In my home country, there was a Prime Minister named Imran Khan; a former cricketer who then became a politician to fight corruption and bring hope for the people in Pakistan. He and his party (PTI, a.k.a. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) focused on justice, welfare, rejecting the elite, and being relatable with the youth. But unfortunately in 2022 he was ousted and in 2023 he was arrested and then Pro-PTI protests happened, as of right now Imran Khan is jailed. The PTI have used social media to gain and maintain their massive supporters, and challenge the new government, and keep the narrative alive after being ousted; This adaptation to digital platforms became the main way of expression which posed a big threat to the current establishment. In 2024 the government started a direct assault on PTI supporters’ expression online. At that time citizens would use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to bypass censorship and access blocked content/info; So they banned VPNs to restrict PTI’s reach and help the current establishment control information. They cracked down even more to the point that they had religious scholars saying that VPNs are forbidden. This crackdown culminated in Khan’s imprisonment. This is a harsh symbol of the establishment’s intention to silence the movement by any means necessary. As a result standard VPNs became inaccessible for ordinary citizens who look for a way to connect with their party. As I witnessed this systemic suppression in my home country, this inspired me to make my passion project; I created a VPN designed and intended purely for helping the people in my home country have access despite the banning, by designing for  it specifically to work even in those circumstances, and empower them to access information and help them express themselves online.

My VPN as of right now transfers 1 TB+ of data annually; and its domain(s) is currently  maxxing.club. My hope for this project is to help those people voice their opinions freely without fear and help fight corruption.
